Public relations specialists held about 275,200 jobs nationally in 2008 according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. The good news is that the employment of public relations specialists is expected to grow 24 percent from 2008 to 2018, much faster than the average for all occupations (US Bureau of Labor Statistics). The bad news is the number of PR aspirants is growing faster than new job openings in the industry.
